Laundry: The Key To Empowering Women With Self-care, Freedom, and Financial Opportunities

Women have found themselves in quite the conundrum: simultaneously with too much work (at home) and not enough work (in the business world). According to the Institute For Women’s Policy Research, “on an average day, women in the United States spend 37 percent more time on unpaid household and care work than men.” It isn’t a secret that women have been burdened with unpaid mental, emotional, and even physical labor to a higher degree than men. And as if that wasn’t enough, women (especially Latinas) are leaving the workforce in droves, as reported by NPR. So, what can we do about it?

Taking Laundry Out Of The Equation

Women aren’t appliances, yet we always seem to be set at “tired” and “overwhelmed.” Surprise: we don’t have to be.

Let’s imagine a typical day in a woman’s life. It may include many of the following tasks:

  • Cooking
  • Cleaning
  • Organizing and paying bills
  • Children and/or pet care
  • Errands
  • Emotional support crutch (and more)

In a sea of household maintenance, it’s no wonder women’s health is put on the back burner. The solution? Taking just one chore out of the equation. A survey by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed that, on average, women spend 442 hours every year doing laundry. Using a laundry service like dree, that number decreases by 97%.

That leaves women with the freedom and peace of mind to commit to taking care of their well-being, whether through self-care, mental fitness, or nutrition and exercise.

Building Out Stable Financial Futures

On the flip side, being stuck at home with extra time and a lack of access to income-producing work is not where women want to be either. With dree, women (and men) can start a stable yet adaptable microbusiness in their home and provide for their families, with a support system to make their operation as successful as possible.

Two birds, one stone. And this is only the beginning.

Question of the day: what would you do with extra daily time at your disposal? Let us know in the comments!
